As a Professional he has competed in many National PGA Professional Championships, Scottish Tartan Tour events and Pro-ams throughout the world with some success. He considers himself very fortunate over the years to have played with some of the leading names in golf including Rory Mcilroy, Jose Maria Olazabal, Padraig Harrington, Steve Elkington and Jesper Parnevik.
He has built a strong reputation as a teacher and golf equipment specialist. A Scottish Golf Union County Coach for 10 years, he is highly regarded for his detailed knowledge of the golf swing and ability to clearly communicate good technique to all golfers. Jacky has coached at all levels including European Tour players, Scottish Amateur internationals and many successful Tartan Tour players. Other notable pupils include a former Prime Minister!
Jacky was Captain of the Scottish PGA from 2009-2011, and has also been a Director and Chairman of TGI, the PGA Professionals' buying group.
His contribution to the game was acknowledged in 2011 when he received the PGA's Advanced Fellow award in recognition of his expertise and achievements in his PGA career. PGA chief executive Sandy Jones said: "Advanced Fellow status is awarded to members who have made a significant contribution to golf and recognises outstanding achievement within the sport."
Jacky became the 50th successful graduate of the PGA’s Director of Golf programme in 2015 and also achieved the Club Managers of Europe Club Managers’ Diploma in the same year.
Over 25 years as a Head Professional, Jacky has trained many Assistants who have gone on to have very successful careers in their own right. This he considers a very important part of his role to develop their knowledge and expertise and assist them to make the best career moves in the future whether that is as a coach, player or Club Professional.
